Cumbrian Homes support local recreation ground

31 May 2016

Cumbrian Homes have given a contribution of £1000 to the Carleton Park Recreation Group, towards the next Phase of updating the existing play area.

Carleton Park Recreation Group is an established voluntary organisation that was set up in 2010 with the backing of Eden District Council and Cumbria County Council working together to improve the facilities on the recreation ground at Carleton for the use of the community.

Since the Group formed in 2010, two schemes have been implemented following a consultation process with the residents to establish their views and needs for the area. In 2011, a multi-use single ended sports wall and tarmac surface was installed, and in 2014, drainage of a large area of the ground and a mini soccer area with goal posts was installed.

Growing on the success of these two schemes the group are now extending the children’s play area with up to date equipment along with safety areas and additional fencing, which money from Cumbrian Homes and other local businesses and grant funding schemes have helped to support.

Nigel Pallister, Managing Director of Cumbrian Homes comments,

"This is a fantastic community project that we really wanted to support. The recreation ground is within walking distance of our new Carleton Manor Park housing development that is currently being built. As this is a site with many family homes, we felt that this project would benefit those families purchasing a new home with us and it is also great for the local community in the Carleton area of Penrith.”
